This paper was produced as a report for the Petra Research Programme 1991-1993. It reviews the experience of modularisation in initial vocational training in Scotland. It starts with an overview, which sets the study back into its context. The characteristics and objectives of modularisation are described next. This is followed by a discussion of the problems, consequences and implications of modularisation. The final sections cover criteria of effectiveness and key issues. The appendices include an overview of the Scottish education and training system. Show less
